Welcome to Great Priory & Bovingdon FarmsGreat Priory and Bovingdon Farms are situated near Braintree, in North Essex. The farms are family owned and are currently managed by Joe Gray and his wife Emma, of JE Tabor Farms Ltd. Joe's grandfather, John Tabor, was known for his nature-friendly approach to farming, and this is something Joe and Emma try to continue on the farms today.
We are largely an arable farm, but also look after areas of pasture, ancient and SSSI woodland and a stretch of the River Pant which flows through the farm. As well as producing crops such as wheat and borage, we incorporate conservation into our farming, and grow crops to attract and feed birds, insects and other wildlife. Joe and Emma coordinate the North Essex Farm Cluster, a group of farmers and landowners working together to deliver greater benefits for soil, water and wildlife in North Essex.
